Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Facelore ("Facelore", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website and service (the "Service"). It forms part of our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website, with the date of the last update shown at the bottom.

1. What Information We Collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. The Service does not require you to create an account. We collect:

  • Your photo. The facial photograph you upload, which is used solely to generate your personalized report.
  • Quiz answers. Your responses to the questions in our quiz.
  • Email address. The email you provide so we can deliver your report.
  • Payment information. Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider (Stripe). We do not receive or store your card number. We receive only confirmation of the payment, the amount, and a payment reference.
  • Technical and usage data. Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical information — such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and interactions with the Service — through cookies and analytics tools. This helps us understand how the Service is used and improve it.

2. Your Photo

Your photo receives special care:

  • It is used only to generate your report. It is not used to identify you, not added to any database of faces, and not used to train AI models.
  • It is not sold, shared, or disclosed to anyone except the technical service providers that process it on our behalf to generate your report.
  • Only upload photos of yourself. Do not upload photos of other people or of anyone under 18.

By uploading your photo, you give your explicit consent to its processing for the purpose of generating your report. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us at hello@facelore.io, in which case we will delete your photo (this does not affect processing that already took place).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • generate and deliver your personalized report;
  • process your payment and send you your purchase confirmation;
  • respond to your questions and support requests;
  • understand how the Service is used and improve it;
  • measure and improve our advertising;
  • prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal Bases (EU/EEA and UK Users)

Where EU/UK data protection law applies, we process your data on the following bases: performance of a contract (generating and delivering your report, processing payment), your explicit consent (processing your photo), your consent (non-essential cookies and marketing, where applicable), our legitimate interests (improving the Service, preventing fraud), and legal obligations (accounting and tax records).

5. Who We Share Information With

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf and only to the extent needed to run the Service:

  • Payment processing — Stripe processes your payment; your card details go directly to them.
  • Report generation — technical providers that process your photo and assemble your report.
  • Email delivery — a provider that sends your report to your inbox.
  • Analytics — tools that help us understand how the Service is used.
  • Advertising — platforms such as Meta may receive limited technical data (via cookies or similar technologies) to measure ad performance, subject to your cookie choices.

These providers are bound by contracts limiting their use of your data to providing services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

Some providers may be located outside the EU/EEA. Where that is the case, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the Service work, remember your progress, analyze usage, and measure advertising. Where required by law, non-essential cookies are used only with your consent, and you can change your choices at any time. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the Service may not work properly without them.

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Your photo: kept as long as needed to provide and support your reading, and deleted earlier on your request.
  • Your report and email address: kept for up to 2 years so we can resend your report if needed, then deleted.
  • Payment records: kept as long as required by accounting and tax laws.
  • Analytics data: kept in aggregated or anonymized form where possible.

When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

8. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted access to systems that store personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data using commercially reasonable safeguards.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent at any time; receive your data in a portable format; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

For California residents: you additionally have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request its deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@facelore.io. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will reply within the timeframes required by applicable law.

10. Children

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have received data about a minor, contact us at hello@facelore.io and we will delete it.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review their policies before providing any information.

12. Contact

For any questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, email us at hello@facelore.io.
